Why end of life planning is smart and necessary

We plan everything including our careers, work schedules, weddings, vacations and retirements. We even plan for the disposition of our property after we die. The one area that most of us avoid planning is the end of our life. If we do not plan, or at least think about it and share our thoughts with those we love, others could take over at the very time when we are vulnerable, in need of understanding and comfort, and longing for dignity.

It is in your best interest to express your wishes about health care before you have a crisis.  Learn from a panel of local experts how you can plan now to receive the medical care you want in the future-even if you become unable to speak for yourself.  This informative panel consists of the following subject matter experts: Silvis Corral, MD, Sansum Clinic, James M. Hall, Attorney at Law, Sam Leer, LCSW, Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care and Jeanne West, RN, MPH, Area Agency on Aging.

You do not want to miss this worthwhile lecture beginning at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2011.  This lecture, held at the Ocean’s Seven Café, 1515 East Ocean Avenue and presented as a public service by the Lompoc Hospital Foundation.  For further information, contact the foundation at (805) 737-5762.
