New hospital opens!

At 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, the front doors swished open with a whisper, and just like that, the new 60-bed Lompoc Valley Medical Center at 1515 E. Ocean Ave., was open for business. Over at the old medical center at 508 E. Hickory Ave., Chief Information Officer Jim White was given the command to lock the front doors of the hospital. It was 7:49 a.m.

“This is one of the biggest days of Lompoc history,” White said, while he continued to help coordinate the changeover. For the first time since 1942, Lompoc has a new hospital.

June 24, 2010 

Lompoc Valley Medical Center completed the California Department of Public Health Licensing and Certification Survey on Wednesday, June 23, 2010.  Jim Raggio, CEO, reports:  “The Lompoc Valley Medical Center Hospital has been cleared to open the new 60-bed acute care facility on June 29, 2010.”

The staff of Lompoc Valley Medical Center is in the process of executing an extensive plan of moving from the dated facility at 508 East Hickory Avenue to the new, state-of-the-art facility located at 1515 East Ocean Avenue.

OB Risk Management Initiative

We would like to congratulate our amazing Obstetrics Department who have once again was one of three Beta Healthcare Group (BHG) insured hospitals to successfully pass their OB Risk Initiative. This initiative fosters improved communication, collaborative learning, common language for fetal strip interretation, and fetal strip[ reviews by the nurses and physicians. It is not an easy goal to achieve, which is why only three out of the 89 hospitals insured by BHG have been successful. We are all very probe of their accomplishment and commitment to quality healthcare for our community.

Ribbon Cutting and Open House

On Monday, hundreds of residents got a sneak-peek at the building, during a ribbon-cutting and open house. Hundreds of residents came to get a first-time look at the Lompoc Valley Medical Center, where everything is brand-new, from the ground up.
