Frank Signorelli Stepping Down

Over the past four-plus decades, Frank Signorelli has been deeply involved in all of the many changes that have taken place in the Lompoc hospital community. Nearing the end of his 41st year on the board, however, Signorelli, who is the current board president, has decided to move on.

Pertussis Epidemic Declared

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Director and State Health Officer has declared a pertussis epidemic and is urging the healthcare community to protect young infants who are most vulnerable to complications and death from pertussis. As of June 24, 2014, 4,558 pertussis cases had been reported to CDPH, more than the number reported in all of 2013. Locally, there have been 21 cases of pertussis since January, 2014 with 7 of these cases reported in June. There are three additional cases currently under investigation.

Doctor to talk about joint surgery

7:00pm Wednesday, March 19 in the Ocean’s Seven Cafe

What’s new in joint replacement and arthritis will be presented by the Lompoc Hospital Foundation at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 in the Ocean’s Seven Cafe inside the Lompoc Valley Medical Center, 1515 E, Ocean Ave. in Lompoc.

The lecture will be presented by Dr. Robert Fry, an orthopedic specialist with Sansum Clinic. Refreshments will be provided. The lecture is free of charge.

Fry will provide an update on non-operative and operative treatments for osteoarthritis affecting the knee, hip and shoulder.
