Sandra Avalos, LCSW
Sandra Avalos is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work, with a clinical emphasis on working with families and children. .
During her 20-year career in social work, Sandra worked for the Department of Child Welfare Services, managing a caseload of adolescent minors in long-term foster care. She has a history of care coordination, foster care placement and working with biological and foster parents.
Being bilingual in English and Spanish paired with her multi-cultural heritage allows Sandra to understand and connect with people from a various backgrounds.
She is an Alcohol Drug Specialist, with a history in assessments of substance use disorders, providing administration of evidence-based curriculums used in treating individuals, adults and minors with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders.
Her clinical experience includes working with victims of crimes through the Victim Witness Program and providing direct clinical assessment and treatment services to families in generational poverty. Her primary treatment modality in addressing trauma is the use of EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
She has been a Lompoc Valley resident since the mid-1990s, was a military wife for several years, and is mother of children serving in the Armed Forces.
