Birthing Center

After delivering the babies of the Lompoc valley for more than 70 years, Lompoc Valley Medical Center is committed to providing you with personalized care, while offering advanced technological resources, medical expertise and education. The dedicated and caring nursing staff is here to honor your birth plan and your choices. With 6 labor, delivery and recovery and postpartum suites and a brand new state of the art Cesarian operating room, our birthing center is prepared to make each birth as comfortable and as safe as possible.


All obstetric patients should pre-register at least 8 to 12 weeks prior to their due date. This will allow the hospital to verify insurance coverage and counsel the patient on various payment options. Validating insurance and billing information prior to the delivery date can reduce a patient’s anxiety upon arrival to the hospital by allowing them to be admitted immediately.

Labor & Delivery Suites

These single-patient rooms have private bathrooms and are outfitted with all of the amenities to make you feel at home during the patient's stay.


HD TV: Each room includes a 32" high-definition flat screen television. Many of the channels are in HIGH DEFINITION, including our local channels. Additionally, you will find several music channels that that may aid in your relaxation and recovery.

Wireless Internet: We are pleased to provide you and your guest FREE WiFi service. Using your wireless device, simply connect to LVMC-FreeNet. No logins, no passwords, and no dollars. Each room in furnished with a sleeper chair for your partner, and comfortable seating for guests.

Infant Security

Your infant’s protection is a priority at Lompoc Valley Medical Center. In order to ensure the safety of your newborn, the hospital utilizes a highly sophisticated infant security system that monitors your infant at all times.

Birthing Capabilities

Operating Room: A select operating room located close by the Labor & Delivery unit allow physicians to perform cesarean sections quickly, efficiently and safely.

Anesthesia: Anesthesiologists are on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide pain management to laboring mothers.

Childbirth Education

Certified, experienced childbirth and lactation specialists offer a variety of education classes to help prepare you, your coach and your family for the arrival of your new baby. These classes can help you to feel more confident about what to expect with childbirth and parenting.

Birth Center Tours

Expectant mothers and birthing coaches are invited to tour the Birth Center at Lompoc Valley Medical Center in order to familiarize themselves with our philosophy of family centered birth. The tour includes information on general hospital policies, admitting processes, perinatal education programs and a sneak-peek at our labor, delivery and recovery suites.

Prepared Childbirth

A series of 4 classes designed to teach expectant mothers and childbirth coaches about the laboring process.

Topics include:

  • Normal Pregnancy
  • Normal Birth
  • Pain Management
  • Birthing Techniques
  • Post-Partum Care
  • Breast Feeding
  • Cesarean Sections

These classes are provided in an attempt to raise awareness of proper childbirth techniques and to help ease the transition into motherhood.

Classes are held in the Ocean's Seven Cafe in the hospital, 4 times a month, every thursday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Class size is limited to 15 couples.
