Every afternoon, David Castillo heads to the Comprehensive Care Center to visit his mother, Rosie.

Rosie, 86, has been a resident for more than a year and suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. The onset of COVID-19 and the sudden suspension of all visitors to the skilled nursing facility – even for family members -- has not stopped his routine.

Longtime Registered Nurse Patti Field had been looking forward to being recognized Tuesday night at the hospital district’s biannual Ceremony of Champions. The event was postponed due to the pandemic.

As of 9:30 am Thursday, March 26, Lompoc Valley Medical Center was notified by the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department that one of our screened patients tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The patient was not hospitalized and is in self-quarantine. Santa Barbara County Public Health Department staff are monitoring the status of the patient, as it is with all other Santa Barbara County COVID-19 positive patients.
