Medical Assistant Cindy Emerson describes her job as a being a “little bit of everything.” She is the employee that patients of Dr. Ado Leporati interact with during appointments at Lompoc Valley Medical Center: Physician Services on Third Street (formerly Valley Medical Group).
Born in Santa Barbara but raised in Lompoc, Cindy has worked with the Internal Medicine physician at PSC for about eight months. After graduating from Lompoc High School in 2010, she initially began working with seniors. She then decided to spend two years getting her Medical Assistant certificate through Santa Barbara Business College.
“I love helping people,” she explains. “I like being able to provide the type of care I want to receive when I go to a doctor’s office.”
During patient visits, she’s able to conduct vital sign assessments and get patients prepared for the physician. She enjoys seeing people she knows sitting in the waiting room and asking them how their day is going. She likes to make them feel comfortable.
“One of my favorite things is that I get to meet people who say they have been coming here for years, or their parents came here,” she says. “It’s really like a family place. It’s a new name, but it’s still the same people.”
