Hospital Foundation Golf Tourney Hits $100,000 Fundraising Goal

After a two year hiatus due to the global Covid pandemic, the nonprofit Lompoc Hospital District Foundation reached its $100,000 fundraising goal at the Flower Valley Golf Classic.

The tournament, which included a silent and live auction, was held May 20, 2022 at the Mission Club in Vandenberg Village.

This year, the Foundation netted $100,466, with proceeds going to Lompoc Valley Medical Center toward the purchase of a new GE Healthcare MRI.

The 31st event drew 133 golfers to the Mission Club’s greens for 18 holes of golf, golfing contests, a live and silent auction and a banquet dinner.

The tournament could not have been successful without sponsors and donors. Jim Vreeland Ford once again was the Hole in One sponsor, and Jordano’s was the Golf Cart sponsor for the event. Mission Linen was the Happy Hour sponsor and Major Benefactors were Coastal Vision, Steve and Donna Popkin, Mission Square, Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians and Mechanics Bank.

“We appreciate the community, the sponsors and the golfers for the tremenoud turnout and support, as well as the Mission Club for putting on a top-notch tournament,” said Foundation President Alice Milligan. “Thank you to the members of our Planning Committee for doing an outstanding job once again, as well as Mother Nature for coming through with wonderful weather.”

At the end of the tourney, the 1st Gross Team consisted of Darren Savella, Neil Imano, Keith Imano and Joe Orsua, golfing under the sponsorship of Lompoc Valley Cardiovascular Center. The 1st Net Team winners were Blair Beigel, Daniel Tatick, Mark Cordes and Robert Unrue. The Straightest Drive Winner was Robert Arevalos while the Longest Drive was awarded to Mitch Petrak. The Putting Contest award was given to Josh Offill.
