Name: Ramon Hernandez

Title: Plant Operations Assistant/Facilities Maintenance

Years with District? 8 ½ years

Where do you volunteer?

  • Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused or neglected children in order to provide children with a safe and healthy environment in permanent homes.
  • Jr. Giants Baseball Coach.
  • Lompoc Police Department Explorer Program which offers young adults hands-on, pre-professional training and real-life experience in law enforcement services and other related professions.

How long have you volunteered?

  • With CASA for 3 years
  • Jr. Giants for 2 years

Why do you volunteer?

I enjoy giving back to the community I grew up in. It also allows me to be able to make a difference with youth. It makes me feel involved with the community while contributing to a cause that I greatly care about. I enjoy volunteering for CASA because I can use my skills in a productive way and make a positive impact in a child’s life. Even though being a volunteer may be challenging at times, it is also so rewarding in so many ways.
