The Lompoc Hospital District Foundation announces the cancellation of the 2020 Flower Valley Golf Classic due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The tournament was initially planned for May 15, 2020, and was rescheduled to Oct. 23, 2020. This week, however, the decision was made by the Foundation’s Special Events Committee to cancel the tournament this year due to ongoing recommendations regarding social distancing and other efforts to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The next Flower Valley Golf Classic tournament will be held on May 21, 2021, at the Mission Club in Vandenberg Village.
The tournament is the major fundraiser for the nonprofit Hospital Foundation. The 30-year-old Foundation provides philanthropic support for capital improvements and equipment purchases for Lompoc Valley Medical Center and the Comprehensive Care Center, as well as offering an informative and educational health-related lecture series for the community.
The Foundation’s fundraising efforts are ongoing despite the tournament’s cancelation, to enable the donation of funds to LVMC to purchase eight patient monitoring systems for the hospital’s Post-Anesthesia Care Unit or PAC-U. These systems are used on more than 1,500 patients annually.
Anyone with questions about the Tournament may call Foundation President Alice Milligan at 805-736-4005. For more information regarding the foundation, see LHDFoundation.org.
