The Lompoc Hospital District Foundation held its annual Trustee meeting on Thursday and presented a check for $100,000 to Lompoc Valley Medical Center.
The donation was presented by Foundation President and Founder Alice Milligan and accepted by CEO Steve Popkin and will be used to purchase an advanced GE Healthcare MRI for the acute hospital.
Mr. Popkin acknowledged the contribution and importance of the organization, saying, "It's called a 'Foundation' for a reason."
"We so much appreciate everything you've done over time and up to this very minute," he said to Milligan.
Milligan said the Foundation's efforts this year have been "very, very successful" and gave special appreciation to the volunteers who have helped at various events, calling them "heroes."
"I can't believe it’s been 32 years we've been having so much fun," she said of the Foundation. "And we continue to flourish each year, and we continue to operate extremely well."
The goals of the Foundation include providing health education to the community and fundraising for necessary equipment within the hospital district.
During the meeting, Milligan introduced four new Trustee board members, Mary Sharp, Barbara Raggio, Ed Mandibles, and Susan Xiong.
The trustees also voted to approve the slate of officers: Milligan will continue in the new year as President; Jim Raggio, vice president; Gary Williams, treasurer; Susan Xiong as secretary and Steve Popkin as assistant treasurer.
The next major Foundation event is the Flower Valley Golf Classic on May 12, 2023, at the Mission Club in Vandenberg Village.
Foundation membership is free, and new members are welcome. For more information, see https://lompocvmc.com/giving.
