Hospital Foundation Colorthon Raises $23,000

The Lompoc Hospital District Foundation Colorthon on Oct. 28 was a huge success, attracting 429 participants and raising $23,000 to benefit Lompoc Valley Medical Center.

The 5K walk/run was held at the Mission Club in Vandenberg Village and included teams, individuals, and families traversing the course and its color stations. At predetermined spots throughout the course, volunteers sprayed brightly colored cornstarch at participants, coating them in a rainbow effect by the end of the course.

“The 2023 Colorthon was a great success,” said Lompoc Hospital District Foundation President Alice Milligan. “The weather was perfect, and it was great to see so many families out that day having such a good time. The Mission Club is such a great place to hold this event. We are grateful to the Mission Club for making this venue available. The staff are so accommodating and wonderful to work with. We raised more than $23,000 toward the purchase of an ultrasound unit for our community hospital.”

Milligan added a “special thank you to members of our community for supporting our Foundation events.”

The Foundation is thankful for the financial support of Rio Vista Chevrolet, Allan Hancock College, Assisted Home Health and Hospice, LVCHO, CoastHills Credit Union, Coastal Vision, Mary Sharp, CPA, Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, and many more donors, sponsors, and volunteers.
