LVMC would like to reassure the community that we are actively engaged in ensuring we have sufficient supply of IV fluid, despite the nationwide shortage caused by Hurricane Helene.
Healthcare facilities throughout the U.S. are making adjustments after the Baxter manufacturing plant in North Carolina was badly damaged, impacting an estimated 60 to 70 percent of the nation’s IV fluid production.
LVMC is monitoring its supply and demand closely and has a number of processes in place to mitigate any impact of the IV fluid scarcity.
“Our administrative team, frontline leaders and physician leaders are working together and taking all necessary steps to conserve fluid usage while maintaining the highest standards of care for our patients,” said Chief Executive Officer Yvette Cope.
At this time, patient care is not being impacted by the shortage, Cope added.
